a harmless beast, hidden from the world, polishes gemstones for an invisible swan. or poems like mirrors for wary fauna. the luxury of introverts lies in dancing within that secret, and in finding—within their exile—the arrow that transforms the body into a flower of time. no modernity is capable of extinguishing the custom of keeping sweets or miniatures as amulets. Jorge’s poems fit around the neck like tiny medallions bearing Latin inscriptions or the name of a loved one. one need only hold them between one’s fingertips and lightly trace their surface to regain faith and patience. everything shall pass. could that be his supernatural sentiment? a distant voice—joyful to have appeared elsewhere—sighs.
