book querido quetzalcóatl ADRÍAN CHÁVEZ
MÉXICO
“Dear Quetzalcoatl, I’ve been very, very good this year…”. This is how the letter that, in 1930, revolutionized the immortality of the greatest Aztec god begins. What was this Christmas thing all about? Why were they bothering him with such trivialities? Why had the president of a country he didn't care about given him a job he hadn't asked for? More importantly: Who was Matilde and why did she want a little blue dress like her friend Catita's?
“There are novels that are written and novels that are told. This one belongs to the latter category. There are stories that are true and stories that are fiction. This one is both. There are humans who believe themselves to be gods and gods created in their image and likeness. Some of them parade through these pages, and the difference is not always clear. There are countries with a history and countries that are a collection of improbable anecdotes. Guess which kind this story is about.”
with unparalleled wit, Adrián Chávez delivers a short novel that pokes fun at us, our politics, and our history.
