book xólotl JORGE LUIS FLORES
MÉXICO
Xólotl is a collection of five stories that take place in present-day, tragicomic Mexico. what can we expect from a country whose reality tends to surpass fiction? the theft of a living statue, the eternal return of the corpses of victims of unsolved crimes, macabre cults to pre-hispanic gods disguised as entrepreneurial ventures, passages between times and countries whose common thread is death, brutal crimes of passion, and romances that oscillate between telenovela, Greek tragedy, and crime thriller.
through bold prose and a profound perspective, Jorge Luis Flores immerses us in situations with fantastical elements that, unfortunately, reflect our harsh reality: femicides, mass graves linked to drug trafficking, corruption, homophobia, and a ridiculous glorification of wealthy business owners.
