book my dear fashion RITA CHIABO
ARGENTINA
with a sensitive and unprejudiced gaze, Rita Chiabo observes and interacts with the people who pass through the famous second-hand clothing store where she works. as if she were the leading actress in a film, we view—through her perspective—an eclectic landscape where glamour and decay coexist. the *nouveau riche*, the wistfully nostalgic, luxury handbags, pop stars, hoarders, elegant ladies, tacky knockoffs, chic wags, furs once owned by deceased aristocrats, people on edge, drop-dead beauties, supermodels, forgotten cash, tv celebrities, pocket lint, unruly children, items of sentimental value, and closets smelling of mildew. The clothing takes on new meaning—and so do its new owners. in *My Dear Fashion*, we glimpse the intimate lives and histories of these individuals through every garment. to be a poet is a way of inhabiting the world—a punk gesture that brings a spark to the daily grind of work.
