Cartografía de las vírgenes is a moving and ingenious book that reclaims the memory of the neighborhood that lives within us. it revives the legends and gossip of neighbors, the shared fears, the promises of a better future, and the youth who struggles to remain rebellious while embracing their innocence.

the neighborhood map depicted on these pages is drawn through the murals of virgins and the street memories, from a wall decorated with the faces of fallen gang members, from clandestine concerts, the smell of fried food, the sound of children's laughter as they still play soccer in the street, from the slowed-down cumbias at a sound system party, from gunshots aimed at the heart of some god up in heaven, and from the fireworks of the patron saint festivals.

instead of picking up a spray can or composing a catchy rap song, Daniel Aguilar draws a literary map and offers us a walk through streets that, even if they aren't our own, are very familiar to us.

this book, in addition to the excellent short stories that make up the anthology, includes the story "Cada mañana mi casa está vacía," which received an honorable mention at the León Literature Awards 2022.
